Berwickshire News and General Advertiser – Troops arrive for Summer camp

On Saturday evening, Volunteer Battalions of the Scottish Border Brigade (2nd Volunteer Battalion of King’s Own Scottish Borderers [KOSB], Berwickshires, the Galloway Rifle Volunteer Corps, and the 3rd Volunteer Battalion KOSB (Dumfriesshire) with Bearer Company, arrive at Stobs totalling c. 1,100 men.  The Duns Volunteers left by train on Saturday afternoon for Stobs camp for eight days including one officer, Capitan A N McDougal, and 32 NCOs and men.   The total strength of the Battalion at camp is 13 officers and 250 NCOs and men.   The present strength of the Battalion is 513 of all ranks.    About 25 volunteers from Greenlaw left by special train on Saturday for Stobs where they will undertake a weeks training.
