Berwickshire News and General Advertiser – Rumour of the purchase of Stobs Estate by the War office

Extensive rumours in Hawick, suggest that the War Office are negotiating for the purchase of Stobs Estate and two adjoining farms.  It is believed that the Government requires the estate for military manoeuvres.
