Berwickshire News and General Advertiser – Additional lands purchased for Stobs Camp

The lands are hilly and very suited for manoeuvres, being very much like Boer Country.

Negotiations between the War Office and the Duke of Buccleuch have resulted in the purchase of a tract of land of twenty-five thousand acres, which is to be added to the Border military camp at Stobs.   The price to be fixed by arbitration.   The extension will take the camp to within a dozen miles of Langholm and close to Mosspaul, in the Border Hills.   The lands are hilly and very suited for manoeuvres, being very much like Boer Country.
