The first step is to download the app. We recommend you do this before visiting the camp. It is available for iOS and Android systems. Either follow this link to download the mobile heritage trail on your mobile device or if you have a QR code reader you can install the app with the Stobs heritage trail QR code.
Please note that this will install the izi.TRAVEL app. The Stobs Camp tour will be a download within the app. You will need to allow the app access to your contacts and images if you are asked to do so. Please ensure that you are comfortable with loading the app and have tested how to start the tour before heading out to the site.
Then make your way to Stobs Camp. You will find directions here directions to the start of the tour.
We recommend that you take appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear. Half of the tour will take place off the tarmac paths. Please also bear in mind that you will be going on to land now used for cattle and sheep grazing and we politely ask that you avoid the area in April and the first weeks in May due to the calving and lambing seasons. Please respect any directions given by local farmers, respect their livestock and remember to follow the Scottish outdoor access code. This includes closing gates you have opened, not blocking farm tracks or roads and taking your litter away with you.
Head for the area marked “Meeting Point” in the direction instructions and start the app on your device. It will automatically trigger points of interest when you are at their location and it will then direct you to the next location. Please ensure you have the volume on as there is audio content throughout.
The tour will take approximately one and a half hours but this will depend on the amount of time you stop at each location.
We would love to hear your thoughts on the trail and would be delighted if you could leave feedback using the app. On the Main Screen tap ‘Show Reviews’ and then ‘Rate it’.
We hope you enjoy the tour!
