    Hawick News – James Amass 13 November 1914 Mrs. Amass of 10 Allars Crescent, Hawick received a letter advising her husband James Amass of the Cameron Highlanders has been killed in action. Sergeant Amass, a native of Suffolk had been previously stationed at Stobs Camp in 1912-1913. He leaves a wife and young son.     Hawick News – Prisoners of War Arrive at Stobs Camp 6 November 1914 The first batch of German prisoners arrived at Stobs Camp on Monday 2 November 1914 accompanied by a military escort. Others will be brought as accommodation is prepared. The prisoners marched to the camp from Hawick Railway Station.

    Hawick News – Increasing numbers of German Prisoners at Stobs 30 October 1914 Due to the growing numbers of German Prisoners notification has gone out to contractors to submit their estimates for construction of a further 200 huts each one to accommodate 30 men. It is estimated the total cost will be £30,000.
