Kelso Chronicle – Ex-Stobs Camp soldier killed in action

11 August 1916

Sgt. W G Blakemore, Scottish Rifles, had been killed in action and who was married a few months ago to a daughter of Robert Gray. He received the DCM for heroic conduct early in the war. Whist he was stationed at Stobs he frequently played for the Hawick Cricket Team.
