Hawick's German Prisoners study weekend

Hawick’s German Prisoners study weekend

On the 18 & 19 June a free study weekend took place in Hawick focusing on Hawick’s German Prisoners and exploring Stobs Internment Camp in it’s global context. This was a fantastic, informative event led by Dr Stefan Manz of Aston University. It was funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and organised and hosted by the Live Borders Libraries and Archives service. Over 100 people with an interest in the camp and its stories attended the events over the weekend. On Saturday delegates listened to a series of talks at the Heart of Hawick’s Tower Mill. There were guided tours around Stobs Camp on Sunday.
