The Southern Reporter – Suicide of a German Prisoner of War at Stobs

Karl Klein, a German sailor and prisoner of war at Stobs Camp, near Hawick, was found dead in hospital there on Sunday, having hanged himself with his leather belt, which he had attached to one of the windows. Klein, who is said to be one of those who were on board the Blücher, which was sunk in the North Sea, had been in a depressed state for some time. He was 26 years of age, and married.
