31 August 1917

The following six German prisoners of war escaped from Stobs Internment Camp – Wilhelm Heinrich Jensen, Max Ammerlich, Walter Dusselmann, Emil Schultz, Paul Otto Butz and Bernhard Haak.   As former escaped prisoners have attempted to reach the coast by following the Tweed to the Sea, Police advised people in Berwickshire and Roxburgh to keep a close watch.
